Understand Sin Before It Enslaves You In The New Year – The Daily Redemption Bible Bulletin – 30 Dec 25

Understand Sin Before It Enslaves You

Proverbs 8:13 (NIV) — “To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”

Romans 6:23 (NIV) — “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

James 1:14–15 (NIV) — “But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

Psalm 97:10 (NIV) — “Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”

Isaiah 1:16–17 (NIV) — “Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right”

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV) — “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

God does not hate sin because He is harsh, but because He is holy and loving. Sin distorts what God designed to give life, quietly entangling the heart before openly wounding it. When we understand sin’s true nature—its deception, its cost, its end—we stop flirting with what steals joy and start choosing what restores it. A new year is not just about better habits; it is about clearer vision, seeing sin as God sees it so we can walk free.

lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach
from his song – The Bottle For The Bible

traded in the bottle for the Bible
oh what a trade I made
I let go of sin for salvation
the best hand I ever played

from a world of sin and delusions
of heartbreak, frustration and pain
I surrendered nothing of value
for the love of God I proclaim

i traded in i traded in
i traded in the bottle for the Bible
gave up all of my hell now I proclaim “It Is Well”
and Jesus has laid His grace on me

Lord, give me Your eyes to recognize sin early and Your strength to turn from it quickly. Teach my heart to love what You love and to hate what destroys my life. Lead me in paths of holiness, freedom, and joy as I walk with You into this new year. Amen.
