In Genesis chapter 8, after the Great Flood, God remembers Noah and causes the waters to recede, allowing the ark to rest on Mount Ararat. As Noah and his family leave the ark, they offer sacrifices to God in gratitude for their deliverance. This chapter foreshadows the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who becomes the perfect offering for our sins. Just as Noah’s sacrifice pleased God, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross brings forgiveness and reconciliation between God and humanity. The cleansing waters of the Flood symbolize the washing away of sin through Christ’s atonement. Genesis 8 points to the hope of restoration and new beginnings found in Jesus, the Savior of the world.
