Ezekiel 36:26 declares, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Psalm 51:10 prays, Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Jesus in John 3:5–6 teaches, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. Galatians 2:20 proclaims, I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
God doesn’t repair stone hearts — He replaces them. Ezekiel promised a living heart, David prayed for it, Jesus declared it essential, and Paul confirmed it as new creation. The Spirit makes us alive, soft, and responsive to God. Gratitude is the response of a heart that has been made alive. When God gives a new spirit, He rewires desire, reshapes will, and saturates life with His presence. The old hardness is gone. The new softness beats with His love.
