Much Fruit, Much Glory
John 15:8 — “By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”
Psalm 1:3 — “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
Matthew 7:17 — “Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”
Galatians 5:22–23 — “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Colossians 1:10 — “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
John 15:8 — “By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”
Proverbs 11:30 — “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.”
Fruitfulness is not something we force; it is something that flows from abiding. God is not glorified by our busyness, but by lives so rooted in Christ that love, obedience, and good works naturally grow. As this new year begins, the call is not to strive harder, but to stay closer—yielded, faithful, and responsive to the Spirit. When we remain in Him, our lives quietly but unmistakably testify that we belong to Jesus.
song lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach
from his song “Jesus Did”
who taught the sea creatures how to breathe
who taught the birds of Spring how to sing
who made all things freeze in the Arctic zone?
who taught the Florida turtles how to find their way home’
Jesus did Jesus did
Who made all things big and small?
Jesus Did (yes he did, yes he did)
who the all and all in all?
Jesus did (yes he did, yes he did)
who taught bumblebees how to buzz
who gave the kiwi fruit it’s fuzz?
who taught the ocean how to roar
who taught the sea to find the seashore
who taught the moon how to glow
who taught the trees how to grow
who made the mountains touch the sky?
who made the cactus grow in the desert dry?
Jesus did. Jesus did.
Father, teach me to abide in You this year. Prune what distracts me, strengthen what honors You, and let my life bear fruit that brings You glory. May others see Your goodness through what You grow in me. Amen.

“Much Fruit, Much Glory”
(~1 min 20 sec – No Director’s Cues | Vertical Painterly Visuals)
LILA, 50s, tends a garden at dawn—kneeling in rich soil, pruning a vine heavy with grapes.
Sunlight spills through leaves. A gentle breeze moves through olive branches.
Voice, warm and steady:
“I used to think fruitfulness meant doing more. Faster. Bigger. But Jesus said, ‘Abide in Me.’ Not ‘achieve for Me.’”
She wipes her hands, reads John 15:8 aloud:
“By this is my Father glorified—that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”
Not by hustle. By connection.
Flash—Lila listening to a neighbor’s grief over coffee.
Helping a teen study Scripture after school.
Leaving bread on a widow’s porch with no note.
Not grand. But good.
Not loud. But lasting.
Voice:
“The Spirit grows what I can’t fake: love that listens, joy that stays, peace that doesn’t depend on my circumstances.”
(Galatians 5:22–23)
She walks through her garden—trees full, fruit ripe, leaves green even in dry heat.
“Like a tree planted by streams of water…” (Psalm 1:3)
Her life isn’t perfect. But it’s rooted.
Later, she hums Zeb’s song as she waters seedlings:
“Who taught the trees how to grow? Who made the cactus thrive in the desert dry? Jesus did.”
She smiles.
It’s not about her effort.
It’s about His life flowing through her.
Final voice, soft with awe:
“When I stay close to Him… fruit comes. Not to impress. But to glorify.”
Fade to golden light on a vine heavy with grapes—lush, alive, still.
