The Blessings You Walk Past—Sacred in the Ordinary

Holy Holy Holy and WELCOME to a new story of faith from your friends at the Daily Redemption Bible Bulletins at theholygospel.net—and here we go….

“The Blessings You Walk Past”
You woke up breathing.
Not because it’s automatic—but because God gave you another dawn.

You turned on a light.
Ate clean food.
Drank safe water.
Called a friend who answered.

These aren’t “normal.”
They’re grace in disguise.

We chase miracles while standing in them:
—Eyes that see.
—Hearts that beat.
—A Bible open on the table.
—The name of Jesus on our lips.

The enemy wants you distracted—so you miss the mercy in the mundane.

But today, pause.
Name one ordinary gift…
and call it what it is: a blessing from the hand of God.

Because gratitude isn’t just praise—
it’s spiritual warfare against entitlement.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above…” — James 1:17

The Blessings You Walk Past—Sacred in the Ordinary
James 1:17 — “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

Psalm 103:2 — “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

Deuteronomy 8:10–11 — “When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God…”

1 Timothy 4:4 — “For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.”
early morning kitchen bathed in soft golden light, steam rising from a simple mug on a wooden table, open window with sunlight streaming through white curtains, fresh bread on a cloth beside it, atmosphere warm, quiet, and deeply human—holiness hidden in the everyday; no darkness, no text, no shadows.
Lamentations 3:22–23 — “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his mercies never fail. They are new every morning…”

Matthew 6:26 — “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

We scroll past blessings like background noise: breath, sight, shelter, Scripture, salvation. Yet each is a deliberate gift from a generous God. “Entitlement” blinds us; gratitude opens our eyes. The greatest danger isn’t suffering—it’s forgetting grace in ease. Today’s miracle may not be parting seas, but a working faucet, a saved phone number, or five minutes of quiet to pray. These are not accidents—they are acts of divine care. To take them for granted is to miss God’s daily whisper: “I am with you.”
lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church
from his song “Your Best Gift To God”
your best gift to God is to be happy
your best gift to God is to spread the vibes
your best gift to God is to get on top of the world
and to shout with all your might you love your life

your best gift to God is to be joyful
your best gift to God is to be free
your best gift to God is to say I love you
and thank you dear Lord for loving me

your best gift to God is to be grateful
your best gift to God is to close your eyes
and take a deep breath and feel the peace
and grab the ticket and cherish your prize

your best gift to God is surrender
your best gift to God is to let him lead the way
your best gift to God is to be a good child
and to get down on your knees and pray

from his song “Thanks To Jesus, We’re All Blessed”

You say whoa whoa whoa my life is so hard
You say whoa whoa whoa I can’t stand it no more
You say whoa whoa whoa this ain’t fair
I say there goes a rich man who thinks he’s poor
Just be humble and be wise
Tear down the veil see through the lies
Take a deep breath or maybe two
See all those blessings rushing to you

from his song “Praise”
As we go about our business
as we muddle through our days
we are mindful to remember
to call on Him and offer praise
for we know if we do thank Him
offer praise and glorify
we will bask in His everlasting love
until we meet Him by and by

Lord, strip me of false “entitlement”. Train my eyes to see Your hand in the small things. Let me never grow numb to grace. Amen.
