They Carried the Same Mission We Do

They Carried the Same Mission We Do
John 20:21 — “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Matthew 28:19 — “Go and make disciples of all nations…”

Acts 1:8 — “You will be my witnesses…”

2 Timothy 4:2 — “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season…”

1 Peter 2:9 — “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood…”

Colossians 4:5–6 — “Be wise in the way you act… let your conversation be full of grace.”

Jonah ran—but still carried God’s message. Timothy trembled—but still preached truth. John wept—but still wrote Revelation. Their mission wasn’t based on their courage, but on Christ’s commission. And yours isn’t either. You’re not called to be impressive. You’re called to be faithful—in your home, your workplace, your neighborhood. The same Spirit who empowered them lives in you.
lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church
from his song “Help Me Jesus, Help Me Lord”

help me help me help me Jesus
please hear my solemn plea
help me help me help me Jesus
reach out and set me free

help me Jesus
help me Lord
help me get closer to You
help me Jesus
help me Lord
drawing closer to you
is all I want to do

help me Jesus
help me my king
remember to turn to you
when the storm clouds gather
help me my Lord
if I turn to you
I know you’ll see me through

embroiled in trouble
entangled in sin
sinking down
the world’s closing in
I reach out with my heart
I reach out my soul
I give you the wheel
you have the control

help me Jesus
help me my king
remember to turn to you
when the storm clouds gather
help me my Lord
if I turn to you
I know you’ll see me through

your power can change me
your love can save me
your touch can restore me
your power before me

from his song “Lord Help Me Live The Righteous Life”
temptations knockin but i locked the door
how long? how long can i fight this war?

i stumble i tumble i rise again
this road is rocky but i’ll reach the end

Lord help me live this righteous life
pierce through my darkness with your Holy light
I’m slippin and slidin but I’m holding tight
Lord help me live this righteous life

a mustard seed of faith can move the mountain
but the dead seeds pile up near the fountain
narrow door it beckons but its out of reach
every step i take feels like a breech

Lord, remind me I’m sent. Not to succeed by my strength, but to serve by Your grace. Amen.
Painterly vertical image: city street at dusk, one person walking with purpose, soft golden light around them while others rush in shadow, distant church steeple glowing in background—symbolizing quiet obedience in a distracted world; no text, no darkness on the figure.
