Even While Deepest Darkness Abounds Stay Focused On God
Welcome to The Daily Redemption for Thursday, February 19, 2026 — where we turn from the shadows that seek our attention and fix our eyes on the Light that saves.
Scripture:
Psalm 101:3
I will set no wicked thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
Proverbs 4:25–27
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
Isaiah 8:19–20
Should a people inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? To the teaching and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.
Matthew 6:22–23
The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.
1 John 2:16–17
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Devotional Core:
There is a darkness in this world that wants to be seen—not to expose truth, but to consume your peace. The more you stare into its depths, the more it distorts your vision of God. Scripture doesn’t call us to ignore evil—but to refuse its hypnotic pull. Because every hour spent dissecting corruption is an hour not spent beholding Christ. And when your eyes stay fixed on what is hidden, you begin to forget: the Light has already won. Guard your gaze. Protect your heart. Turn toward the One who “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Colossians 1:13).
lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church
from his song “No Matter What”
No matter what may come my way
i’ll hold on to Jesus every day
No matter what happens today
I’ll hold on to Jesus all of the way
every minute every hour I will cling to
Jesus and his love and power
no matter what X2
no weapon formed against me will grow
no matter what X2
where Jesus leads that’s where I will go
in Satan’s name is sorrow and pain yet
the world may follow him again and again
(repeat)
the world is fallen in the garden we fell
and Satan’s temptations lead only to hell
there is only one door
one light, one truth, one way
veer off the righteous road
you will suffer and you will pay
He promised to always be with us
He is the beginning and the end
With Jesus we never break
not even bend
Prayer:
Lord, there is so much hidden pain in this world—and so much evil cloaked in power. But I refuse to let it steal my focus from You. Guard my eyes. Purify my curiosity. Let me care without consuming, lament without lingering, and act without obsession. Draw me back to Your face—where truth is clear, love is pure, and light never fades. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Visual Direction:
Anonymous figure standing at dawn on a hill, back to viewer, facing the rising sun—while a shadowy valley lies behind, blurred and distant. No details in the darkness. Only light ahead. Warm gold tones. Stillness. Surrender.
