When Systems Replace Souls
Welcome to The Daily Redemption for Thursday, February 26, 2026 — where we name the coldness of systems that treat people like files, and remember that the end of all things is not efficiency—but love.
Scripture:
Matthew 24:12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
2 Timothy 3:1–5 In the last days there will be terrible times. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power.
1 John 4:7–8 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Galatians 6:9–10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Today’ lyric all courtesy and appreciation to Bob Seger:
I take my card and I stand in line To make a buck, I work overtime
Dear Sir letters keep coming in the mail I work my back ’til it’s racked with pain
The boss can’t even recall my name I show up late and I’m docked, it never fails
I feel like just another Spoke in a great big wheel
Like a tiny blade of grass In a great big field
To workers, I’m just another drone To Ma Bell, I’m just another phone
I’m just another statistic on a sheet To teachers, I’m just another child
To IRS, I’m another file I’m just another consensus on the street
Gonna cruise out of this city Head down to the sea Gonna shout out at the ocean
HEY ITS ME!!!!
and I feel like a number, I’m not a number
damnit I’m a man! I said I’m a man!
Devotional Core:
Cold bureaucracy isn’t just annoying—it’s a sign of the times. When policies replace compassion, when scripts replace speech, when tenants become “units”—we’re seeing what Jesus warned about: “The love of most will grow cold.” But here’s the eschatological hope:
the end of the age isn’t marked by better management systems— it’s marked by a King who knows your name. God’s final word isn’t a lease agreement. It’s an embrace. So don’t let institutional indifference harden your heart. Keep loving. Keep seeing people. Because the world may run on transactions—but the Kingdom runs on tenderness.
Prayer:
Lord, I feel unseen. Treated like a number, not a soul. But You see me. Help me not to mirror the coldness I receive. Let my kindness be rebellion. My patience, prophecy. And my love, a foretaste of the world to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You knock. They don’t answer.
You call. You get a script.
You exist—but you’re not seen.
Jesus said this would happen:
“The love of most will grow cold.”
But the end of the story isn’t coldness.
It’s a God who wipes every tear.
Who calls you by name.
Who turns sterile hallways into holy ground.
So don’t let their indifference steal your warmth.
Your kindness is eschatology in action.
