In today’s reading from Philippians 4:13, we are presented with a powerful statement – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” For many of us, this verse is a reminder of the strength and courage we can find in our faith.
But what does it truly mean to do “all things” through Christ’s strength? Does it mean we will never face struggles or obstacles in our lives? Of course not. We all face challenges, but it is how we overcome them that test our faith and strength.
Consider the apostle Paul, who wrote the many letters to churches which ended up being books of the Holy Bible including the letter to the Philippians. He endured countless trials throughout his life, yet he never lost his faith in Christ. In his letter, he writes that he has learned to be content in all situations – whether he has plenty or nothing. He understands that his strength and ability to endure comes from Christ.
Likewise, we can find strength in Christ during our own trials. It is important to remember that we do not have to face our challenges alone. We have a source of strength in God, who will give us the courage to face any obstacle.
But how do we access this strength? It begins with prayer and trust in God. We must turn to Him for guidance and strength when we face challenges. We can also find strength in the support of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, who can provide encouragement and support when we are feeling weak.
Finally, we must remember that the strength we find in Christ is not just for our own benefit, but for the benefit of others as well. When we are strong, we can lift up those around us who may be struggling. We can be an example of faith and courage to others.
In conclusion, let us remember Paul’s words from Philippians 4:13, and take comfort in the strength we find in Christ. Let us turn to Him in times of trouble, seek support from our fellow believers, and be a source of encouragement to those around us. May we all find the courage to face life’s challenges, knowing that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
And all the people say….
Amen.
Amen.
