From Mourning to Dancing, Sorrow To Joy – DR Bulletin 1 Feb 26

From Mourning to Dancing
Psalm 30:11 — “You turned my mourning into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.”

John 16:20 — “Your grief will turn to joy… no one will take away your joy.”

Isaiah 61:3 — “To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…”

Romans 12:15 — “Mourn with those who mourn.”

Ecclesiastes 3:4 — “A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 — “The Father of compassion… comforts us in all our troubles…”
God doesn’t rush your grief. He enters it. He honors your tears. But He also promises: sorrow is not your final chapter. The same God who wept at Lazarus’ tomb is the One who rolls away stones. Your pain is real—but so is His power to redeem it. Joy doesn’t replace memory; it rises through it, like light through cracks. This isn’t forced happiness—it’s resurrection hope. So let yourself grieve. And trust that one day, grace will gently lift your hands… and you’ll dance again.
lyrics from his song “How Many Tears Our Eyes Can Shed”

how many tears Our eyes can shed
What a fallen world we live in
So much suffering and pain
What a tainted hand of cards we are given
Tears fall across the world like rain

It’s amazing to contemplate how many tears Our eyes can shed
To measure every ounce of pain where
Even the Son of God suffered and bled
Yet amidst this tsunami of misery
The Son Of God rose from the dead

how many tears Our eyes can shed X4

These things we hear about every day
We pray they never come our way
and yet the pain marches on and on
And once it’s here never fully gone

And it’s amazing it’s amazing
how many tears Our eyes can shed X4

Dear Jesus wipe away these tears
Or turn them from despair to joy
We know that you can do all things
Across the world your love employ
We focus our minds we open our hearts
With faith in you our tears are stilled
The secret to everlasting life
All we are with you is filled
but it’s amazing it’s amazing
how many tears Our eyes can shed X4

Lord, hold me in my sorrow. And when the time comes, lead me into joy—not as escape, but as worship. Amen.
