Don’t Take the Bread Until You’ve Made Your Peace – DR Bible Blast Bulletin 14 March ’26

Don’t Take the Bread Until You’ve Made Peace
Welcome to The Daily Redemption for Friday, March 13, 2026 — where we confront the uncomfortable truth that communion isn’t meant for unreconciled hearts, and God takes our relationships with each other seriously before He accepts our worship.
Opening Worship Lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church

from his song “I just want to forgive”

I don’t want vindication Because I already know the truth
I don’t want wrath or vengeance lord
these things belong to You
And I know that I can’t find them
With a compass or treasure map
I just need your grace to reign over me And
fill those things I lack

Because unforgiveness is a sin And I want all my sin washed clean
And I want to glorify you Lord By forgiving
those who are still haunting me
I just need your grace to reign over me And
fill those things I lack
I been a little bit off but in your grace
now i’m coming back
I just wanna forgive I just wanna be free
I just wanna forgive find your peace inside of me
therein lies all victory

Matthew 5:23–24 Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

1 Corinthians 10:16–17 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

1 Corinthians 11:27–29 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

Leviticus 19:17–18 Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

Isaiah 1:15–17 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide My eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of My sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

Communion isn’t a ritual—it’s a reality check. Before you take the bread, ask yourself: Is there someone I’ve wronged? Someone I’m avoiding? Someone I’ve written off? Jesus was clear: leave your gift at the altar and go make it right first. Paul warned that eating and drinking without examining your heart brings judgment, not blessing. This isn’t about perfection—it’s about posture. God won’t accept worship from hands that refuse to extend forgiveness. He won’t bless a table where bitterness sits unchallenged. So don’t rush to the elements. Pause. Search your heart. Make the call. Send the text. Swallow your pride. Because communion declares we are one body—and a body can’t thrive when its parts are at war.
Lord, search me before I approach Your table. Show me anyone I’ve hurt, anyone I’m holding against. Give me courage to humble myself and make things right. Don’t let me treat communion like a routine when my relationships are broken. Help me honor You by honoring Your people. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
