How many of us call out to God in prayer in such a tone of commanding Him? David did. Perhaps because he had a special relationship with the Lord or perhaps he had a special relationship with the Almighty because of how he would speak to him in prayer.
Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself. Did you know that David has a future earthly role? Old Testament passages like Jeremiah 30:9 and Ezekiel 37:24 prophesy that David will be raised or installed as a leader or king over Israel during a future earthly kingdom, not as a co-ruler seated on a heavenly throne next to Jesus.
The Lord hears when I call to him. David was certain, although sometimes less so. But deep down he felt the Lord was in communication with him and with total certainty. What if we were to pray with the same certainty?
Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. The funny thing is that there are videos on YouTube that claim that praying in bed is forbidden. They say you are speaking to the Almighty God, so get up and get down on your knees! Here David is giving prayer coaching and tells us to do it right in bed.
