Why Father Abraham Gave A Tithe To This Mysterious Stranger – DRBBB

Let’s get right into prayer because the mystery in His Word is very often the very presence of God
Lord, thank you for reminding us that Your ways are not our ways. Your ways are the zenith in terms of mystery, wisdom, meaningfulness and they last forever. May this stranger, Melchizedek, who appears to Abraham from out of nowhere continue to remind us so much about you and your glory. Was he pre-incarnate Jesus? Jesus is said to have been, by the mysterious author of Hebrews, in the order of Melchizedek. Abraham received his gifts (of bread and wine:hint!) and offered him a tithe because he recognized the holiness. Clearly, you knew the end from the beginning. In your grace you dropped breadcrumbs along the way so those who love you and seek to know you better can dig for these millennia into deeper and deeper meanings. Thank you Lord for your light and way and Jesus and the Holy Spirit for the access. Amen.

3 QUOTES ABOUT MELCHIZEDEK
  1. Genesis 14:18–20 (KJV) “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.”
  2. Psalm 110:4 (KJV) “The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”
  3. Hebrews 7:1–3 (KJV) “For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.”

4 QUOTES ON MYSTERY AS GOD’S ESSENCE
  1. Deuteronomy 29:29 (KJV) “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
  2. Isaiah 55:8–9 (KJV) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
  3. Romans 11:33 (KJV) “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!”
  4. 1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
