God built free will into us on purpose — so we could worship Him with intent, not because He wanted robots. Evil is anytime we go against God — and Scripture records no time at all between the garden’s peace and the serpent’s arrival, so whether Adam’s innocence lasted seven years as the book of Jubilees claims, or a single day, the garden gave him no reason to turn: serenity and peace, work without weariness or frustration, only joy and creation. Then the door opened, and he thought he would do something new that day. That novelty is what we lament every moment of every day — and the only new thing that was ever worth wanting came later: new life in the last Adam.
God created us with free will so that we could worship Him with intent, not because we are robots. Anytime we go against God it’s the definition of evil.
