with today’s Headline: Sheltered Under His Wings — God Our Refuge and Fortress
Primary Verse (Theme Anchor):
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” (Psalm 34:7)
✨ Devotional
Psalm 91 assures us who dwell in God’s shadow are protected. Psalm 27 corroborates by declaring that His light drives out fear. 2 Thessalonians confirms His faithfulness as active protection against the evil one. Psalm 34 adds the assurance that His angels encamp around those who fear Him, delivering them in times of danger. Together, these verses form a fortress of confidence: God Himself is our shield, our refuge, and our strength.

from his song “I Ain’t Perfect But I’m Saved”
Aint nothin I could do

let me tell ya, I ain’t perfect but I’m saved
from his song “When The Troubles Come”
tough times never last
only faithful people do
that’s why I am stickin to my Jesus
like we’re connected with super glue
i call his name and I am saved

🙏 Prayer
Father, teach us to dwell in Your shelter and rest in Your shadow. Let Your light silence fear, Your faithfulness guard us from evil, and Your angels encamp around us to deliver us. Cover us under Your wings and keep us safe in every step. Amen.

Did you know that Psalm 91 has been called the most powerful prayer of protection ever written?
During World War One, a British soldier named Private William Hopwood carried a small card with Psalm 91 written on it. His mother had given it to him before he shipped out to France. While his entire regiment faced brutal trench warfare at the Battle of the Somme, something incredible happened. Shell after shell exploded around his position. Machine gun fire raked across no man’s land. Yet somehow, William walked through it all without a single scratch.
But here’s where it gets really wild. After the battle, William discovered that eleven other soldiers in his unit were also carrying copies of Psalm 91. Every single one of them survived when over 60,000 British soldiers were casualties that day. The other men started calling them “the protected twelve.”
William’s commanding officer was so amazed that he wrote about it in his war diary, which is still preserved in the Imperial War Museum today. He couldn’t explain how these twelve men survived the deadliest day in British military history while carrying the same biblical passage about divine protection.
William kept that card for the rest of his 94-year life, crediting Psalm 91 with saving him that day.
Let us pray: Father, teach us to dwell in Your shelter and rest in Your shadow. Let Your light silence fear, Your faithfulness guard us from evil, and Your angels encamp around us to deliver us. Cover us under Your wings and keep us safe in every step. Amen.
