In Genesis chapter 15, God reassures Abram (Abraham) of His promise to give him a son and descendants as numerous as the stars. Abram believes in the Lord, and God credits it to him as righteousness. This chapter holds a Messianic perspective as it foreshadows the concept of faith and righteousness through belief in God’s promises. Just as Abram’s faith was counted as righteousness, our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior brings us into right standing with God. This chapter reminds us that God’s promises are sure, and through faith in Christ, we become heirs of God’s eternal blessings. It points us to the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise through the coming of the Messiah, Jesus, who would bring righteousness and salvation to all who believe in Him.
