It’s Monday Morning: Let His Peace and Joy Continue
Dear Beloved Beach Church Believers And Beyond,
Here is today’s Daily Redemption bulletin. Today we carry the resurrection joy of Sunday into the Monday grind, declaring that God’s peace is not a weekend visitor but a daily resident in our hearts.
note: to be transparent and clear – most days the part of the bulletin that I write is the commentary on the featured scripture. The rest is scripture or contributed by AI. Working with AI can be amazing and amazingly frustrating but there has not been a day where I felt the AI generated content didn’t cut the mustard and so I will continue to share my thoughts and the thoughts that come about when a computer program scours the entire internet and then puts it out in a few seconds time. When it is not hallucinating, glitching or stuck on past prompts which have been changed, AI is not coming from algorithm as much as it is coming from what the entire internet has to say in the topic. Just in that aspect it is interesting so I hope you will enjoy the entire experience. What I write you will see here on the page in italics. On the graphic it is in purple-blueish.
Featured Scripture and Commentary
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Sundays are emotional. Ever have the feeling that Rev Dr Pastor Jimmy is talking directly to you about your life and your journey and struggles? Come on. You know you have. So there can be tears. There is a reason why every pew has a box of Kleenex. Tears of frustration, tears of joy, tears of feeling convicted, tears of just feeling understood and more. Hopefully, predominantly any tears you experience will be tears of joy from communing with the Lord. And then there is the feeling of receiving the Eucharist during Communion and wanting to fully experience it and to determine if there is anything you are missing out on in that deep engagement directly with Jesus at His table. Then there is the joy of fellowship. Also the forgiveness opportunities of fellowship. Actually sometimes that can be very meaningful in our journey as well. It is all about the 2nd commandment of Jesus and to gauge how far you have come in living that out, perhaps compared to an earlier version of you. Crammed into a couple of hours on Sunday morning there is a lot of joy, a lot of growth, a lot of activity and then the rest of Sunday to enjoy. And if you still didn’t get enough we now have a double dollop by going to Thoroughgood on Sunday evening.
So what happens on Monday? School? Ugh! Work? Ugh! Taking the cat to the vet? Horrors! Maybe you enjoy your classes or your work. In that case, pause for a moment this day to reflect on and experience your blessings. But in any event and whatever the activity this much is true – Monday is different than Sunday. But why do we sometimes feel that we left God behind at the church on Sunday and now we are alone in the grind? I am here to declare that we don’t have to. We can experience God wherever we are and whatever time or day that it is. We will have troubles, challenges, growth and forgiveness opportunities as we move forward into the world on Monday but here is some scripture to remind you that God is with you through all of it and wants you to rely on Him to get through it all and use it as part of your journey to get closer to Him.
CORROBORATING SCRIPTURE
Philippians 4:4–7, Nehemiah 8:10, Romans 15:13, Colossians 3:15, Isaiah 26:3, Psalm 16:11, Galatians 5:22–23, Matthew 11:28–30
Philippians 4:4–7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Nehemiah 8:10 …Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Galatians 5:22–23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Matthew 11:28–30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Sunday worship often feels like a mountaintop. We sing, we pray, we feel close to God. Then Monday morning hits. The alarm rings. The emails pile up. The stress returns. It’s easy to feel like we’ve left God back at church.
But Jesus didn’t say, “I give you peace on Sundays.” He said, “In me you may have peace.” That peace is portable. It travels with you to the office, the school, the hospital, and the highway.
TODAY’s BIBLICAL DOSE OF REALITY
How to Keep the Joy Going on Monday:
Joy is a Choice, Not a Feeling: Paul commands us: “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). This isn’t a suggestion for when life is good. It’s a command for when life is hard. Joy is the defiant decision to trust God’s character despite your circumstances.
Peace is a Guard, Not Just a Vibe: Philippians 4:7 says peace will “guard your hearts and your minds.” Imagine peace as a soldier standing at the door of your mind, blocking out anxiety, fear, and irritation before they can enter. When Monday stress tries to invade, let peace stand guard.
The Joy of the Lord is Strength: Nehemiah 8:10 tells us, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” When you feel weak, overwhelmed, or drained, don’t just try harder. Tap into joy. Remember who you are. Remember what He has done. Joy fuels endurance.
Start Small: You don’t need a two-hour devotion to keep the fire burning. Start your Monday with one verse. One song. One breath prayer: “Jesus, I invite Your peace into this day.”
Don’t let the world steal what God gave you on Sunday. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). He doesn’t clock out on Monday morning.
Let His peace rule. Let His joy strengthen. Let His presence continue. One can always turn to just a few moments of gratefulness. That is one of our most powerful weapons.
PRAYER FOR WHOMSOEVERS
Lord, thank You for Sunday, but thank You also for Monday (and every other day – any day we wake up to is the day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it) . I invite Your peace to guard my mind today. I choose joy, not because my day is easy, but because You are good. Be my strength. Be my calm. Be my song. I walk in Your victory today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
