Nobody Is a Nobody When They Are a Child of God DRBBB 21 April 26

Welcome to today’s Daily Redemption — where we confront the lie of insignificance and declare the truth: in God’s family, there are no nobodies.
Featured Scripture and Commentary
John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

So many ways to approach this one. I am reminded of a young lady who visited a business networking gathering in Richmond VA I guess 7 or so years ago. She was “hey day of Hollywood” beautiful and yet said that she felt invisible like nobody saw her and she meant she felt ignored by the world, not because of her beauty but spiritually. It was then that I realized just how widespread that this feeling of “being nobody and being insignificant to the world” was. Of course she was a child of the world. Never mentioned anything of her faith but she seemed pretty lost.
Then I could talk about the universal affliction of worship singers. It is so difficult to not draw attention to yourself. If you are up on stage doing gymnastics with a big smile on your face it could be 100% worship with God at the center of your activity or it could be a distraction especially if you are the only one doing it. If you even do a certain expression or gesture because you know it will generate a response in the congregation it might be to drive people onto worship ecstasy of being closer to God or it might be to manipulate their emotions and to also feel a bit less like a nobody. Even faithful worship singers have to hold their hearts and intentions under constant scrutiny because the desire to feel like a somebody is very difficult to evade completely even in the most devout. Here is a hint – if your attention goes to your favorite music (even worship music) “idol” and how they do stuff and you are, even to the slightest, emulating them, in voice or presence, you are probably a bit South of center.
The truth is that to 8 billion other humans roaming the world you almost certainly are a nobody but there is a more important truth.
To God you are somebody. To God you are worthy of the love of being covered in the blood of His only Son who died for you. Whomsoever you might be, once you are a new creation you are, in the eyes of God, something else. Even before, when He knit you together in your mother’s womb you were a creation of his. One that He knew would live in sin with a fallen sin nature but he gave all the tools necessary to them so they could forsake all of their worldliness and surrender to Jesus. It is often said that the reason the Lion of Judah has not come down from Heaven on a white horse as of yet is because God wants to save all that can be saved before the last bell has rung.
So are you in Jesus but still feeling like a nobody to the world here is what I have to say to you this morning.
1. If that is okay with you to feel like a nobody to the world but something beloved and special to the Lord – PASS! You have your head screwed on correctly and your heart in exactly the right place. I remind you of what John the Baptist said and what Zack Williams wrote a song about “A little more like Jesus, a little less like me”
2. If you still feel like a nobody and that disturbs you – pray for humility, to have the worldly burden of pride lifted off of you and for a greater discernment and understanding of “I Surrender All”. Three little letters, actually two, one used twice, comprise the word “all” but how many people really understand “ALL”?
What part of “no”body don’t we understand sometimes? If we can transition that feeling from one that gives us sorrow to one that gives us joy then we discover all the real meaning there can be in this world and it is to not be of this world but to be of God. There is one exception – if you have young kids and you are the center of their world until they are of an age where Jesus becomes a reality to them and the center of their world while you become the one they are eternally grateful to for steering their lives and their hearts to Jesus then you really are a somebody.

7 CORROBORATING LIFE-CHANGING SCRIPTUREs

Romans 8:15-17, Galatians 3:26, 1 John 3:1, Ephesians 1:5, Isaiah 43:1, Matthew 10:29-31, Psalm 139:13-14
Romans 8:15-17 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.

Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.

1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

Ephesians 1:5 He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.

Isaiah 43:1 Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Psalm 139:13-14 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

TODAY’s MESSAGE
The world measures worth by visibility, influence, output. God measures worth by relationship.
One woman shared: “I spent years feeling invisible—overlooked at work, forgotten in relationships, convinced I had nothing to offer. Then I read John 1:12 and realized: I didn’t have to earn a seat at the table. I was already invited. Not because I was impressive, but because I was His. That changed everything. I’m not a nobody. I’m a child of God.”
This isn’t positive thinking. It’s covenant truth. When you receive Christ, you don’t just get forgiveness—you get family. You’re not an orphan hoping for acceptance. You’re an heir, seated at the table, called by name.
The world may scroll past you. God stops for you.
The world may forget your name. God calls you by it.
The world may measure your output. God measures His love.
You are not defined by your résumé, your followers, your bank account, or your past. You are defined by whose you are.

PRAYER FOR WHOMSOEVERS
Lod, thank You that my identity isn’t earned—it’s given. For anyone feeling invisible, overlooked, or worthless: remind them they are seen, known, and loved by name. Help us live not for the world’s approval, but to give glory to and magnify our lord and to feel the warmth of his favor and our Father’s smile. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
