2 Cor. 1-3 Choosing And Embodying Traits of Jesus Over Worldliness
The essence of 2 Corinthians verses 1 through 3 Has a lot to do with the traits of Jesus Compassion and comfort. Be careful to not end up on the wrong side of the line as a hypocrite who’s doing more harm than good in the name of Jesus because that’s not gonna bode well for anybody.
As my mom used to always say the day before the first day of school, we’re all in the same boat. Jesus comforts us so that we can comfort others who are suffering.
If we are not forgiving, comforting, and reaffirming love, then what are we doing as Christians? We have to reach out to the disenfranchised just like Jesus did.

The Meaning For Our Lives: 2 Corinthians 1–3
We’re All in the Same Boat: Jesus comforts us so that we can comfort others. Of course Jesus suffered horribly Having done nothing wrong, but to die to wash us of our sins and our sin nature But the sharings of The sufferings of Jesus brings us brings us comfort In us and between us because we’re all in the same boat As my mom used to always say the day before the first day of school.
Living the Walk Out in the World: I definitely know other people as I go out to these open mic nights and see all these people, some of whom even identify themselves as believers in Jesus, but they don’t live that way. You see, I’ve got an excuse for being out in the bar because I’m singing to people about Jesus. Also, I have another excuse since I had the acute pancreatitis last year so there ain’t no way I am tieing one on or even having a single drink. It is not that drinking is always wrong but choosing the bottle over the Bible is fundamentally problematic. I choose to use my free will to represent Jesus to the best of my ability. It may be the only representation of Christ that they will see all day or all week. I am not going to fall short of being set apart and trying to show them a different way. I was probably pretty miserable at it but at least always sincere and I have gotten steadily better as my faith and understanding has gotten deeper and more central to my heart and my conduct. I know that I am different and if these people can just see that the Lord has changed me maybe they can also change.
Forgiving Instead of Doing Satan’s Work: He calls on the Corinthians to forgive and comfort and reaffirm their love for any Who are contributing to the problems with the church community in Corinth or? Otherwise you might say doing the work of Satan In this fallen world of ours where Satan is The prince of the air Father of lies if we are not forgiving and comforting and reaffirming love Then what are we doing?
The Spirit is Freedom: He speaks specifically I have heard this before that the Jewish people have a veil in front of their eyes So that they can’t see God as easily as others. That’s all well and good, but the spirit of the Lord is is freedom Now I wanted to give you an example of how this can go all horribly wrong.
The Backwards Hypocrisy Example: Look at Westboro Baptist Church Which is basically a hate group. They protest victims of tragedies, funerals of soldiers, anything Jewish, and LGBTQ. Hate the sin love the sinner. You don’t protest the individuals if you’re gonna go to a pride March and you’re not part of the problem Then you show up to preach the love of Jesus. This church should have its license revoked.
Preaching Jesus Without Knowing It: Then you have this guy David Draben from Disturbed, a former rabbinical study student making some really loud music. He has a song called “get down with the sickness”, and it’s about dealing with anger, frustration, alienation, trauma, pain, and child abuse. A review said “makes me want to go out and rescue every battered kid” so if everything that I just Described is not very very Christian Then I don’t know what is. This guy should be celebrated because he’s You know like Jesus would reach out to the disenfranchised.

Messianic Significance: Something About Jesus
The Unjust Walk: Deny ourselves pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Well the walk that Jesus had to do was One of the most painful walks And certainly the most unjust Walks that anybody ever had to go through but in sharing that with each other And with him we find comfort.
Reaching the Disenfranchised: Jesus would reach out to the disenfranchised to the Tax collectors to the whores to the gamblers to whoever Because that’s what his message was all about love and compassion.
Paid in Full (Tetelestai): In that courtroom we say, yeah, I’m guilty. Absolutely. But my debt has been paid. Jesus paid it all. Paid in full. So T’Telestai that means paid in full in Greek. It was a business transactional term. Christ’s finished work on the cross is the ultimate defense against these accusations.

### Classic Commentaries Corner
“By keeping this man under perpetual condemnation, we do the work of the devil, who is the accuser of the brethren. An unforgiving spirit in a church is Satan’s greatest foothold.” — Adam Clarke

Prayer For Whomsoevers
Father of all creation, when You created us. All of us, each of us, You gave us free will Lord. And then we failed and then we fell. And we were stiff-necked at best for 1000 years. Then came Jesus your son, our Lord and Saviour. Lord I pray we shall always be mindful and centered in these truths and blessings and that you continue to have mercy on us and on those who are still astray while we seek daily to move closer to a Christ-like righteous way of living. We praise and thank you Lord and in the name of Jesus all the people say “AMEN”!
