Discerning Truth in a World of Clickbait Prophecy

Discerning Truth in a World of Clickbait Prophecy

We see it all over the internet: self-appointed prophets making a massive fuss, electing themselves to timeline the end of the world, and claiming that specific calendar dates guarantee the Rapture. But God’s warning to and through Ezekiel is a timeless shield against modern sensationalism. When we wallow in the theological mire of flashy influencers who preach for clicks rather than Scripture, we risk letting our own hearts grow cold. True righteousness isn’t a performance, and it isn’t found in chasing tomorrow’s headlines; it’s a gift from the Son who transforms us from the inside out so we can stand firm, unshaken, to the very end.
The Meaning For Our Lives: Breaking Away from the Mire

The Mark of a False Prophet: Ezekiel 13:3 explicitly warns against foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing. If an influencer or teacher is speaking from their own imagination or setting rigid calendar dates instead of pointing to the established Word of God, do not follow them—and test everything against Scripture.

The Trap of Stage-Performance Hypocrisy: As Christians, the world is watching us as if we are on a stage, quick to zero in the moment we speak or act hypocritically. More than just harming our witness, acting out of alignment with Jesus’s teachings contributes to making our own hearts grow cold and drifting away from the Lord.

Evicting Idols and Broken Commitments: Idolatry isn’t just ancient statues; the modern world is completely full of them, from secular cultural icons to the love of money and political leaders. We can appreciate art, music, and talent, but we cannot worship them or follow them into the grave where they cannot return.

Shaking Off Church Drama: When people inside the church judge you or give you a hard time, you don’t need to get down into the mud wrestling with them. You don’t need to force a deep friendship with people who refuse to act in a godly fashion; your assignment is simply to keep your heart clean, love your neighbor as yourself, and focus on the first commandment.

Messianic:

The True True Vine and Provider: Ezekiel 15 reminds us that a wild vine branch is useless if it doesn’t bear fruit, but Jesus steps in as the True Vine. Our righteousness isn’t based on our own perfect track record or human effort—it is a free gift because Christ transforms us to be secure in Him.

The Unshaken Rock in a Shaking World: Political systems, internet theories, and celebrity teachers will all shake like a Polaroid picture. Jesus Christ, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the only foundations that remain completely solid and secure through every age.

An Open Door for the Family: It is never too late for family, friends, or anyone you love to come home to Jesus. Whether someone is young or eighty-six years old on a hospital bed, the Holy Spirit can awaken a cold heart in an instant and bring them safely into the fold.

## Classic Commentaries Corner

* “When men follow their own spirit and speak of visions they have not seen, they turn the holy office of prophecy into a stage performance for personal gain. The true servant of God never manufactures a timeline to satisfy human curiosity; he builds a wall of scriptural truth to protect the flock from drifting into the coldness of a deceptive age.” — John Wesley
* “We live in a world obsessed with tomorrow’s headlines, yet completely blind to today’s idolatry. Ezekiel shows us that an idol is anything that steals the heart’s allegiance from God—whether it is a secular cultural icon, political power, or a flashy teacher. True faith does not chase internet sensationalism; it rests securely on the Unshaken Rock.” — A.W. Tozer
* “The severe indictment against the false prophets in Ezekiel is actually a profound movement of divine mercy. By exposing those who daub the wall with untempered mortar, God warns His people to break away from the muddy mire of hypocrisy before the storm of judgment falls, leaving the door wide open for true repentance.” — Matthew Henry
* “Like a wild vine branch cast into the fire, human righteousness apart from Christ is entirely useless and fit only for burning. We cannot survive the shaking of this world by our own effort or perfect track record; we must be completely grafted into Jesus, the True Vine, who provides the grace to stand firm to the very end.” — Adam Clarke
* “When church drama and the judgment of men threaten to drag you down into the mud, the believer’s assignment is not to wrestle with the instigators. We must simply shake off the dust, anchor our souls in the first great commandment, and trust that the Holy Spirit can awaken a cold heart in an instant—whether they are young or eighty-six on a hospital bed.” — Charles Spurgeon

Prayer For Whomsoevers:

Father God I ask today only that I be past my time of being easily fooled. Let me not be fooled or scammed or misled by others and let me not deceive myself and forbid I should ever lead others astray. Surely Lord I was a poster child for such in the past. Non-believers call themselves “spiritual searchers”. Truthfully what they should be is spiritual sacrificers – just turn it all over to you and let your Holy Spirit inside of us guide us to wisdom with your Word. I stand unshaken in the light of Your Son and our Saviour and it is in His Name that I dare pray to you boldly Lord with thanks and supplication and all the people surely say “Amen!”
