Don’t Let Church People Disrupt Heavenly Peace
Key Scripture:

John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Colossians 3:15 — “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful.”

Romans 12:18 — “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Matthew 18:15 — “If your brother sins against you, go and point out their fault…”

Proverbs 19:11 — “A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”

Devotional Core:
Church people are human — and humans hurt. But your peace isn’t theirs to break. Jesus didn’t say, “Only stay peaceful when people are kind.” He said, “My peace I give you” — a peace that transcends circumstances, personalities, and even betrayal. This heavenly peace isn’t passive avoidance; it’s active trust. It forgives without pretending, sets boundaries without bitterness, and stays near Jesus even when community fails. You don’t have to tolerate sin — but you also don’t have to carry resentment. Let Christ’s peace rule in your heart, not their behavior.
lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church
from his song “Lonely In Heaven”

It’s gonna be lonely in heaven
if we don’t learn how to love one another
It’s gonna be lonely in heaven
if we don’t learn how to love the Lord

It’s gonna be lonely in heaven
if we don’t keep our eyes on the prize
It’s gonna be lonely in heaven
A big empty party up in the skies.

We gather for Bible study all well all good. we got that right.
Then as soon as it is over into the politics of hate we fight.

We have to show what we are made of and
I hope it’s the love of the Lord
We have to welcome all comers and treat them as equals
and everyone can get on board.

So nobody cares how you feel about the issues
that only divide and confound
If we are Christians then we hold up only one banner
and we never ever put it down.

Prayer:
Lord, I’ve been hurt by those who claim Your name.
But I refuse to let their brokenness steal my peace.
Guard my heart from bitterness.
Give me grace to forgive.
And keep me anchored in You —
the only One who never fails.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Visual Direction:
Painterly vertical image: anonymous figure walking a quiet path through misty woods at dawn, soft golden light ahead, back to viewer — calm, steady, moving forward alone but not lonely. No faces. No symbols. Only surrendered journey.
