Holy Holy Holy. We welcome you to The Daily Redemption publication for Friday, March 20, 2026.
Today’s headline is The Sacred Pause: Where Jesus Meets Your Reaction.
Intro: Friday, March 20, 2026 — Welcome, friend. Today we learn to claim the holy pause between trigger and response, inviting Jesus and His peace into that sacred space.
Opening Worship Lyrics by Zeb of Virginia Beach Church
from his song “My OId Fighting Ways”

he always knows his next move
he knows the tricks of his trade
with which he can conjure up in me
my old fighting ways
I fight and I fight on rare occasion I win
I’m knocked to the mat
then I’m up and fighting again
when all I could want
the Lord would send my way
if I could only let go of my old Fighting ways

from his song “Your Redemptive Love”

oh Lord I struggled and I fought I fought with all my might
to hold on to my darkness and eschew your Holy light
for such was the inner nature of this stubborn man so tough
but then you overwhelmed my rebellious heart
with your redemptive love I am a brand new creature in you in you

Scripture and Commentary
Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 — “We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” And we come here to your screen this March day where we have been blessed to experience weather somewhere between lion and lamb with a question in our mind, on our hearts. Actually several… “do you have it in ya to claim that pause between the initial reaction and the more loving, godly one?”, “Is your heart and soul filled with enough of God’s love to override the personality that the world has nurtured in it’s cauldrons and furnaces to override it’s responses?” and in alignment with Paul’s injunction, “are you enough of a holy warrior to your own mind to ‘take captive’ of your thoughts and reactions and steer them to obedience in Jesus?” Nothing heavy today. Just what separates the children from the saints. Where you at?

James 1:19-20 — “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”
Proverbs 16:32 — “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.”
Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Philippians 4:6-7 — “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Isaiah 26:3 — “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Galatians 5:22-23 — “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Devotional
The moment before you react is holy ground. In that breath-sized pause, you are not powerless—you are invited. Jesus doesn’t ask you to suppress anger or pretend you’re not hurt. He asks you to bring that raw moment to Him. When you feel the heat rise, the words form, the impulse surge—stop. Breathe. Whisper His name. That pause is not weakness; it is worship. It is where you choose identity over impulse, Spirit over flesh. In that space, peace can enter. Truth can speak. Love can redirect. You are not becoming someone else by pausing—you are returning to who you truly are in Christ. Practice this: when triggered, say silently, “Jesus, I welcome You here.” Mind you, when it happens you will be graced with all of a fraction of a second to allow the Lord to take control before your emotions do. Let His presence fill the gap. Over time, that pause grows. Reactions soften. Responses align. You remain you—anchored, whole, free. Ready? Here it comes… don’t miss it!
Prayer
Lord, teach me to claim the pause. When tension rises, help me breathe Your name before I speak. Guard my heart in that sacred space. Let Your peace flood my reactions. When I feel pulled to become someone I’m not, remind me whose I am. I invite You into my triggers, my hurts, my impulses. Take every thought captive. Produce Your fruit in me. I choose to be still, to know You are God, and to let Your love lead. Amen.
