King David (Friday Shorts) DRBBB 22 May: Thoughts On The Heart Of King David

Few humans, intraBiblical or extraBiblical have been held on high in esteem to the degree that David has. What makes him so special?

What David Teaches Us Today. Excerpts From the Scripture

Acts 13:22 — “I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.”

1 Samuel 17:45 — “You come against me with sword and spear… but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.”

Psalm 34:4 — “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Wrote King David the psalmist.

2 Samuel 12:13 — “David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’”

Psalm 18:2 — “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.”

Zeb’s Thoughts On The Heart Of King David – Why was one with so much blood on his hands, who committed adultery and murder of the husband of the woman he committed adultery with and who made many mistakes as king still celebrated to this day? He wrote the psalms which guide our thoughts and emotions towards God to this day. He was the perfect example of a fallen human who did great things in the name of the Lord. Jesus was the messiah who was prophesied to be in the lineage of King David. And above all…. when he messed up he always came crawling back to God, heart fallen, desperate for forgiveness and redemption. Surely we can find, in his righteousness, a heart to follow that was not perfect but loved by God.

Today’s Prayer For Whomsoevers
Lord, Like you we admire the heart of David. His courage, his humility, his humanity as shown in his Psalms which You wrote through him to us so we would know how to be in Your favor and how to communicate thoughts and emotions with you to this day.
We love you, Lord. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
